Three Rivers Wildcats Youth Bass Fishing Team Continues to Grow Thanks to Community Support
The Three Rivers Wildcats Youth Bass Fishing Team is celebrating another exciting season of growth and success as the program enters its fifth year. What began as a small group of student anglers has grown into one of the largest youth fishing programs in the area, with nearly 70 anglers participating this season.
The TR Wildcats Bass Fishing Team welcomes students from throughout the Three Rivers area and provides young anglers with opportunities to compete at the local, state, and national levels. Team members participate in Michigan Youth Bass Fishing Association (MYBFA) tournaments, Michigan Bass Federation events, and Major League Fishing (MLF) national tournaments, where they represent both their community and the sport of competitive bass fishing.
In addition to traveling to state and national competitions, the program also hosts its own local tournament series on area lakes throughout the summer. These events provide valuable experience for anglers of all ages and skill levels while fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, conservation, and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the program is its commitment to keeping competitive fishing affordable for families. The only cost to participate is the annual $25 federation membership fee. There are no tournament entry fees for team members. This allows every interested student to participate regardless of financial circumstances.
That opportunity would not be possible without the incredible support of local businesses and community sponsors who believe in investing in young people.
The Three Rivers Wildcats Bass Fishing Team would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the following 2026 sponsors:
* R&R Trailers
* Premier Home Solutions
* Big G’s Custom Baits
* Stewart Sutherland
* Walther Farms
* Ridgeway Floral
* Rhinos Exterior Renovations
* WE Slitt
* DB Baits
* Muehlberger Custom Homes
* Decker Home Sales – Berkshire Hathaway
* Franger Gas Company
* Trucordia
* Klines Resort
* High’s Marine
* Dauch Corporation

These businesses have helped provide tournament opportunities, support program operations, and ensure that local youth have access to a positive and rewarding outdoor activity. Their generosity allows student anglers to develop skills that extend far beyond fishing, including responsibility, communication, teamwork, leadership, and perseverance.
“The growth of our program is a direct reflection of the support we receive from our community,” said Carrie Balk, TRHS Principal. “Our sponsors make it possible for us to remove barriers for families and provide opportunities that many students might not otherwise have. We are incredibly grateful for every business and individual who supports our anglers.”
As the Wildcats continue their fifth season, the team remains committed to developing the next generation of anglers while proudly representing Three Rivers on lakes across Michigan and throughout the country.
For the Three Rivers Wildcats Bass Fishing Team, success isn’t measured only by trophies and tournament finishes—it’s measured by the experiences, friendships, and life lessons gained along the way. And thanks to the continued support of local businesses and community partners, those opportunities continue to grow year after year.
Thank you to our sponsors for helping our Wildcats cast toward success! 🎣
